DVM Position Available at Good Shepherd
At Good Shepherd Veterinary Hospital established in 2002, in Charleston, WV we are seeking a compassionate and skilled Veterinarian to join our team. Our hospital offers a comprehensive range of veterinary services, including diagnostics, treatments, surgeries, and preventative care for dogs, cats, avian, and some exotics.
The ideal candidate will have a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an accredited institution, be able to secure a West Virginia Veterinary License, with a compassionate and patient-centered approach to animal care. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing and treating illnesses and injuries, performing surgical procedures, administering vaccinations, and providing guidance on preventative care measures. They will also be responsible for maintaining accurate and detailed medical records, collaborating with technicians and other staff members, and providing emergency care as needed.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Diagnosis and Treatment: examining animals, diagnosing illnesses and injuries, and developing effective treatment plans

Preventative Care: administering vaccinations, conducting routine physical exams, and providing guidance on preventative care measures

Client Communication: explaining diagnoses, treatment options, and providing education on animal care

Surgery Experience: Preferred but not required.

Be available to work at least 32 hours a week Monday-Friday.

Veterinary Tech Position Available at Good Shepherd
Key Responsibilities and Duties

Must have a strong foundation in science, effective communication skills, and genuine compassion for animals. They should be detail-oriented, capable of multitasking, and able to handle the emotional aspects of working in animal healthcare.

Assist in surgical procedures, preparing the operating room, handling instruments, and assisting veterinarians during surgery.

Monitoring anesthesia during procedures, watching over the pet's condition while under sedation.

Collect blood samples, conduct hematological analyses, and interpret results to aid in diagnosing various medical conditions.

Image patients to identify internal issues in animals. Performing and interpreting diagnostic imaging, such as X-rays.

Oversee the recovery of patients, administering medications, monitoring vital signs, and providing comfort to animal’s post-surgery.

Responsible for administering medications as prescribed by veterinarians, ensuring proper dosage and monitoring for any adverse reactions.

Educate pet owners on post-treatment care, including medication administration, wound care, and signs of potential complications.

Offer guidance on preventive health measures, nutrition, and routine care empowering pet owners to maintain the well-being of their animals.
